After starring with the ball in hand, all-rounder Hayley Matthews got Mumbai Indians (MI) off to a blazing start against UP Warriorz (UPW) in the ongoing Womens Premier League (WPL) match at the Eakana Stadium. Matthews took the attack to the opposition and helped MI reach 50 inside the power play. The all-rounder took on UPW's new ball bowlers Chinelle Henry and Ecclestone and gave them a tough time.
Skipper Deepti Sharma's decision to bring Ecclestone in the power play backfired this time as Matthews did not allow her to bowl stump-to-stump line. After a below-par start with bat in hand, the West Indian all-rounder showed her class with bat in hand. Matthews, who won the MVP player in the WPL 2023 season, proved today that she still has a lot to offer with her all-around prowess.
