Pakistan lost to India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match in Dubai on Sunday by six wickets. A day later New Zealand won against Bangladesh eliminating both Pakistan and Bangladesh from the tournament.
After the PCB made so much effort to stage the Champions Trophy in Pakistan, the hosts were out of the tournament within the first week. Pakistan will next take on Bangladesh in their third and final league game on Thursday, February 27.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram was livid with his team's performance in the tournament. They were outplayed in all departments in both their games against New Zealand and India. In both matches, their batters batted well below par and did not give their bowlers enough to defend.

Wasim Akram schooled the Pakistani bowlers for the diet they followed in the match against India. He spoke about how the Pakistan players were busy eating bananas during the drinks break.
"I think it was the first or second drinks break, and there was a plate full of bananas for the players. Itne kele toh bandar bhi nahi khaate (Even monkeys don't eat so many bananas). And it's their food. Had it been our captain Imran Khan, he would have given me a beating over it," Akram said on the show named Pavillion.
Drastic Steps Needed To Change Pakistan Cricket - Wasim Akram
After Pakistan's elimination from the tournament, Wasim Akram said that the side is playing archaic cricket in modern days which is taking the team nowhere.
"Drastic steps needed. We are playing archaic cricket in white-ball for ages. This needs to change. Bring fearless cricketers, young blood into the team. If you have to make five-six changes. Please make it" Wasim Akram said on the show "Dressing Room," after his team's defeat to India in Dubai.
He also equated Pakistan's bowling average similar to that of Oman and USA. "Our average is even poor than Oman and USA. In 14 teams who are playing ODIs, Pakistan's bowling average is second worst," he concluded saying.
