Suryakymar Yafav-Rohit Sharma for Mumbai Indians

Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian T20I captain will play under Hardik Pandya's captaincy at Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025. MI have both the Indian T20I captain and ODI captain in SKY and Rohit Sharma playing together for one team.

Surya, Rohit and Hardik will soon be playing together in IPL 2025 as the season starts from March 22. They will be playing together at Mumbai Indians which has been one of the most successful IPL franchises with five titles under their belt.

Hardik Pandya's captaincy with Mumbai Indians was criticised a lot in IPL 2024. The side finished last under his captaincy losing as many as 10 matches. Once again, ahead of an IPL season, it is Hardik's captaincy that is the talking point with MI heading into IPL 2025.

We Work As A Unit When We Get Into That Dressing Room - Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav who has been associated with the franchise since 2018 spoke about a possible "conflict of interest" from a captaincy point of view among the senior players in the side. MI retained Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Tilak Varma ahead of IPL 2025 auction. Surya, however, denied the possibility of any rift between the players.

"As soon as we go to our house, it’s like a family, so we don’t think about that, that we have three captains or we have four captains. We think that we are one team. It’s as good as an institution where we have learned a lot, grown over there, and gone on to play for India. We work as a unit when we get into that dressing room" Surya said to Sportstar.

He further said that the team has a few captains but they take calls together as a unit.

"Yes, there are a lot of captains in the team, but (when) we sit together, (be it) five people, seven, (or) ten, we take a call... how do we want to take the ship forward" he further added.

MI kick off their IPL 2025 campaign against CSK in Chennai on March 23. They have added Deepak Chahar and Mitchell Santner to their ranks who played for CSK previously for a long time.
