Former Pakistan bowling coach Janason Gillespie has come down hard on the current interim coach of the national side as he called him a "clown" for his comments about too many changes in management.
 In the press conference on Tuesday, where Pakistan announced Salman Ali Agha as their T20I captain, interim coach and national selector Javed rued the lack of consistency in Pakistan cricket. In the same press conference, the Pakistan white-ball squads were announced for their next white-ball series against New Zealand.
Pakistan were eliminated from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 after losses to India and New Zealand in the league stage. Their match against Bangladesh was rained out. Hence the hosts became the first team to be knocked out of the Champions Trophy.

Javed blamed Pakistan's exit majorly on Gillespie and Gary Kristen's way of coaching. He said that the costant chopping and changing of the support staff has not allowed the players to perform at their best potential. Javed, in other words undermined the contribution of Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten during their tenure with the team and blamed the downfall of the team on the former coaches.
"You want to take Pakistan cricket forward then you need to have consistency and continuity in policies in our cricket starting from the PCB Chairman to the players. Since last year, see how many captains, coaches, selectors and board Chairman have changed. This is never an ideal situation for the team and it does affect their performances. I think a coach can do only as much as he can sitting outside but he can’t go and play. I think some of our players need to start thinking about their game and how to be consistent performers," he said" he told a media conference here on Tuesday.

Responding to Aaqib Javed's comments Gillespie called him a fool and lashed out at him for undermining their contribution to the team as coaches. He also said that Aaqib Javen plotted plans to become the all-format coach of Pakistan.
"This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes campaigning to be the coach in all formats. He is a clown," Gillespie said.
The PCB and the Pakistan Criket Team decision makers have changed theri coach and captains way too many times since the ODI World Cup 2023 which saw a continuous decline in ther performance over time. Getting eliminated from the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 despite them being the hosts was the lowest point for Pakistan cricket in recent times.
