Harmanpreet Kaur Scores Her Seventh WPL Fifty
From 46/2 just outside the powerplay, Brunt and Harmanpreet added a 59-run stand for the third wicket. The partnership was broken by Ashleigh Gardner in the 14th over of the innings. Amanjot Kaur (27 off 15) played a timely cameo to help MI get close to 150.
In the final three overs, Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur cut loose as she scored a few boundaries and took her team past 150 Ultimately, Kaur was dismissed for 54 off 33 deliveries. Yastika Bhatia coming into bat at number seven scored 12 off 3 deliveries as MI finished at 179/ 6 in 20 overs. The score looks a competitive one for the Giants to chase.
For the Gujarat Giants, it was the spinners in the middle overs who controlled the opposition's run-scoring. However, the seamers leaked some runs in the final overs with their outfielders not backing the bowlers in the final few overs.
This is a must-win match for both teams. It's a match where finishing second on the points table is the ultimate goal for both teams. The team that wins the match will get to 10 points and be on par with Delhi Capitals. The chase is very well set up for the Giants who are looking for their first win over Mumbai Indians. MI have won all their previous five games before the Giants. DC, MI and GG have all qualified for the playoffs. The Giants have qualified for the playoffs for the very first time in the WPL.
