England batter Harry Brook pulled out of IPL 2025 citing personal reasons. This is the second time he has pulled out of the IPL after backing off from IPL 2024 as well.
Brook took to social media to share the news about his non-participation in IPL 2025 season for the Delhi Capitals. In the post, he said that it was a difficult decision and even apologised to the Capitals fans. He is not the first England cricketer to pull out of the IPL with Ben Stokes also doing the same in IPL 2024 and 2025.

He has now risked his future in the league and is all set to be banned from the IPL for the next two years. DC bagged him for 6.25 crores in the IPL 2025 auction. The franchise will now have to look for a replacement for the England batter. They do not have much time to find a replacement with IPL 2025 starting in the next two weeks. The England batter announced his decision on social media asking the DC fans to forgive him for his decision.
"I have made the very difficult decision to pull out of the upcoming IPL. I apologize unreservedly to the Delhi Capitals and their supporters," Brook wrote.
DC kick off their season against Lucknow Super Giants on March 24 and below are the three players who can replace Harry Brook in the squad.

Ben Duckett
The England batter can be a good option as a replacement for Brook. He can bat as an opener of within the top three. His aggressive style of batting will help the Capitals to get quick starts inside the powerplay. If he can consistently do that, he will be a massive addition to the side. The southpaw also has the capability to bat according to the situation in the middle-overs. In the recently concluded Champions Trophy, he scored 227 runs in three matches at an average of 77 and s strike rate over 100.
Daryl Mitchell
The Kiwi all-rounder can be another good option as a replacement for Harry Brook. Mitchell can bat anywhere in the lineup from three to seven and can also chip in with his overs. Besides that, he is also a good fielder and can bat anywhere in the lineup He can give the Capitals the flexibility that the side will need in this long tournament. The Kiwi all-rounder has scored at a strike rate of nearly 150 in T20Is in 2024.
Kane Williamson
Williamson can be another good option as a replacement. He is an experienced campaigner someone who knows the Indian conditions well and have the experience of playing in the IPL. Williamson can replace Brook as a specialist batter in the lineup. Being an experienced captain who has led previously in the IPL, he is someone who KL Rahul can fall back on in IPL 2025 as well. Kane scored 200 runs in the recently concluded Champions Trophy.
