The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed a report from India claiming it suffered a INR 869 Crore loss by hosting Champions Trophy 2025 event. A Telegraph India report mentioned PCB hardly earned in pennies by conducting the event after 29 years in which they failed to make the semis. Contrary to reports, PCB claimed that it is set to earn approximately USD 10 million (INR 86 crore approx) as profit by hosting the CT event.
PCB spokesperson, Aamir Mir and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Javed Murtaza addressed the media cleared the rumors about PCB suffering heavy losses by renovating stadiums - Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi for the global event.

"All expenses for the tournament were covered by the ICC," Mir said adding that the PCB generated revenue through gate money and ticket sales. "Additionally, after the audit, we expect to receive another Rs 3 billion from the ICC," he added.
PCB claims to surpass the targeted INR 2 billion in earnings from CT 2025 event
PCB also said that rather than suffering a massive loss, the board has earned more than INR 2 billion in earnings from hosting CT 2025 event. The PCB spokesperson also claimed that the total revenue for 2023-24 fiscal year reached 10 billion - strong 40% increase than the previous year.
"With this financial strength, PCB now ranks among the top three richest cricket boards in the world," Mir said.
"The board has also paid Rs 40 million in taxes," he added.
While PCB is claiming to have made a profit out of hosting the CT 2025 event, it is still unclear as the official information from ICC is yet to come. Also, with Pakistan playing just one home game in the tournament, PCB claiming to have earned INR 86 Crore is drawing mixed results from the public. Pakistan only played one game against New Zealand at home, while their game against Bangladesh was abandoned due to rain. They traveled to Dubai to play India but suffered a six-wicket loss and crashed out of the CT 2025 event.
