Mumbai Indians are heading into IPL 2025 with a lot of expectations from their players. They finished last in IPL 2024 under Hardik Pandya's leadership. The onus is on Hardik and the senior players of the squad to turn the season around in IPL 2024.
Since MI won their last IPL title in 2025, they have had a few indifferent seasons thereafter. They finished fifth in IPL 2021, tenth in IPL 2022, fourth in IPL 2023 and last again in IPL 2024. However, in the mega auction this season, they have been able to compile a strong squad together.
Rohit Sharma seems to be back in form for MI. They also have brought back Trent Boult in the mega auction to sort out any weakness in the pace bowling attack. Deepak Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to start the XI for MI.
MI have been slow starters historically in the tournament. Ahead of the new season, they have been pegged by Jasprit Bumrah's injury concern and Hardik's absence from the first match. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the side in their season opener against CSK. MI have an enviable first XI and if all the players stay fit and play to their potential, they can reach the playoffs and even win the title.
