Shardul Thakur, who went unsold in the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, and only joined the team as a replacement player for Mayank Yadav in the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team made an impact straightaway. Thakur picked up two wickets in the first over to put Delhi Capitals (DC) on the back foot. He dismissed Jake Fraser McGurk (1), and Abhishek Porel (0) runs to get LSG off to a dream start.
Chasing a mammoth score of 210, DC needed to get off to a great start, and also lose not more than two wickets. However, they lost four wickets, and could not put on a single partnership of a note. Faf du Plessis tried his level best to keep attacking from one end, but could not sustain it for long enough as he was dismissed for (29) runs.

Apart from Thakur, Siddharth Manimarm, Digvesh Rathi, and Ravi Bishnoi ended up taking the other three wickets. With pitch just aiding the spinners a little bit, LSG spinners exploited it thoroughly and left DC reeling at the halfway stage.

Currently for DC, Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Rana are at the crease. While the former is still at the crease, DC will still be in the hunt, but the Proteas star has to play a blinder of an innings for DC to win the match from this scenario.
