It was runs galore at the opening match of the Asian Legends League 2025 in Udaipur. In a match that saw over 400 runs being scored, Asian Stars came out victorious by completing a thrilling run-chase in the penultimate delivery of the match.
Asian Stars set to chase 217 to win, were 32/3 inside the first four overs. The Stars lost Rishi Dhawan (3 off 5), Kashyap Prajapati (17 off 9) and Dilshan Munaweera (1 off 4) as they lost three wickets in quick succession.
The repair job began with the partnership between Stars skipper Mehran Khan (109 * off 52) and Ankit Narwal (30 off 39). From 32/3 in the fourth over, the pair added 102 runs between themselves. Narwal was dismissed in the 14th over with skipper Mehran looking for another partner. He found that in Raghav Dhawan (34* off 20). He played a counter-attacking innings and added the remaining 85 runs that were needed to win the match.

Blockbuster Clash Witness Two Centuries
Previously, Afghanistan Pathans batter Shoaib Khan smashed an unbeaten ton himself to take the side to 216/3 in 20 overs. Pathans skipper Asghar Afghan scored 65 off 36 balls to pair up with Shoaib and decimate the Stars bowlers. The Stars batters hit a total of 39 boundaries in their innings.
It was raining fours and sixes in both the innings of the first match as the bowlers had nowhere to hide. The Pathans bowlers went for over 11 runs per over in the run-chase as their discipline with the ball was totally dismantled by the Stars batters.
Thus the first match gave us a glimpse of what more is to follow in the inaugural edition of the Asian Legends League 2025. Starting from March 10, there will be two league matches every day with the knockouts scheduled on March 15, 16 and 17. The final will be played on March 18. All the matches will be played at the Miraj International Cricket Stadium, Udaipur.
