Yuzvendra Chahal-Dhanashree Verma Divorce Alimony Locked at Rs 4.75 crore

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday mandated the family court to finalize the divorce of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma by March 20, just days ahead of the commencement of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025.

The court waived the mandatory six-month cooling-off period under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, citing the couple’s separation since June 2022 and Chahal’s upcoming IPL commitments with Punjab Kings. The decision follows their mutual consent filing. The family court had initially rejected their plea to skip the waiting period due to incomplete terms.

"As petitioner 1 (Chahal) is participant of IPL, learned counsel informs that he may not be available from 21st March, the learned judge family court is requested to decide petition by tomorrow," the Court directed as quoted by Bar and Bench.

Chahal and Dhanashree tied the knot in a private ceremony in Gurugram in December 2020. However, the couple has been living apart for over two and a half years with their separation dating back to June 2022.

Alimony Settled at Rs 4.75 Crore, Rs 60 Crore Claims Refuted

The divorce includes a Rs 4.75 crore alimony agreement with Chahal having paid Rs 2.37 crore and the balance due post-decree. Earlier this year, rumors swirled that Verma demanded Rs 60 crore, igniting online frenzy. Her family swiftly debunked these claims, stating:

"We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being circulated about the alimony figure. Let me be absolutely clear—no such amount has ever been asked, demanded, or even offered. There is no truth to these rumors whatsoever. It is deeply irresponsible to publish such unverified information, dragging not just the parties but also their families into unnecessary speculation. Reckless reporting like this only causes harm, and we urge the media to exercise restraint and fact-check before spreading misinformation and also be respectful towards everyone’s privacy."

Adding to the public interest, Chahal was recently spotted with RJ Mahvash, a radio jockey and social media influencer, at the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai on March 9. The pair, seen cheering India against New Zealand, sparked dating rumors, though Mahvash denied any romantic link.

With 205 wickets in 160 IPL matches, Chahal, who was snapped by Punjab Kings (PBKS) for Rs 18 crore, aims to shift attention to his performance, starting with their campaign-opener against Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 25 in Ahmedabad.
