Chahal PBKS IPL

Yuzvendra Chahal grabbed eyeballs when he was purchased for a record shattering 18 Crore in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction. Punjab Kings (PBKS) shelled this huge amount to get hold of one of the league's best spinners. While some felt Chahal does not deserve such a huge amount since he is no longer part of the Indian team, some felt he deserves such a huge price tag due to him being IPL's highest wicket taker.

However, Chahal has given a no-nonsense reply on whether he deserves such a huge price. Speaking about the dynamics and experience of IPL auction, the leg spinner said that he himself asked same question, wondering if he was worth such big price tag. The answer he got from within was 'yes'.

"I missed the first few minutes of the auction because I was very nervous. The auction is like that. You don't know what price you will go for, which team. Lots of thoughts come to your mind. I am happy I am going to be closer home. When I asked myself, I got a reply from inside, 'Yes, I deserve this price'," he said, as per Hindustan Times.

Yuzvendra Chahal opens up about his development as a spinner

Variation is always a key to a spinner's rise, as one cannot be a one-trick pony in the T20 format, where batters always search for ways to hit sixes. Over the years, Chahal has also added a lot of variations to his armory. The leg spinner shared a few insights into his development as a spinner.

"I've got four variations (leg-spinner, two forms of googlies, flipper). I trust them. The most important thing is belief. On the ground, how do you respond to match situations is what matters. That's where you decide when to go for wickets and when to stop the runs," said Chahal.

So far, the PBKS leg spinner has taken 205 wickets from 16o IPL matches, representing MI, RCB, & RR. PBKS would be hoping the huge price tag does not burden Chahal, and he continues to spin a web around the batters as he always does.
