Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin responded to a fan on Twitter after recently winning the Padma Shri award. He joined an elite list of Indian cricketers to have won the award. The Government of India released the list of awardees and Ashwin was the only cricketer in the list.
The legendary off-spinner announced his international retirement midway through the Test series against Australia. He retired after the third Test in Brisbane which ended in a draw. He played the first Test at Perth and since then was benched.
Meanwhile, Ashwin was congratulated by Dhanush, the South Indian on his recent achievement.
"My hearty congratulations to dear Ajith Sir on being conferred the prestigious Padma Bhushan award. Also congratulating @ashwinravi99 on being the first Tamil Nadu cricketer to having being conferred a Padma Shri. My congratulations to all other Padma awardees who have made the nation proud In their respective fields" Dhanush had tweeted.

Meanwhile, a random X user took a dig at the Indian spinner saying that he should thank Rohit Sharma who included him in the playing XI instead of the actor.
"Thanku bolna hai toh rohit sharma ko bolo usne tumhe khilaya hai (If you want to thank someone, thank Rohit Sharma, he is the one who played you)," the user wrote.
Ashwin in his own style and rational way, responded to him saying "Dey paithiyam" which translates to someone being mad, crazy or lunatic.
Talking about Ravichandran Ashwin's international career, he finished with 537 wickets in 106 Test matches. He is India's second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket after Anil Kumble's 619 scalps. In ODIs, he finished with 156 wickets from 116 games and in T20Is he picked up 72 wickets from 65 games. Overall, he finished with 69 scalps in his international career including 37 Test fifers.
He was good with the bat too. In Tests, he scored over 3500 runs including six centuries. He also scored 14 fifties in ODI cricket and just one in ODI cricket.
