Shubman Gill is all set to lead the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. This will be his second season as the skipper of the franchise. Gill led the franchise last year. They finished seventh on the points table.
Gill has already played a huge part in Gujarat's success in the IPL. Since joining the Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022, Gill has scored 1799 runs at an average of nearly 45 including four hundreds and 10 fifties.
Gill had a massive season for the Titans in 2023 where he scored 890 runs in 14 matches. He averaged nearly 60 in the season and threatened to surpass Virat Kohli's record of 973 runs in IPL 2016 at one point.

Kane Williamson Lauds Shubman Gill's Cricketing Acumen
Heading into the season opener for the Titans, Kane Williamson played alongside Gill at the franchise in IPL 2024 spoke about how good a player and captain the youngster is. Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, Williamson who has already won an Orange Cap himself in the IPL spoke about a few crucial traits of Gill the cricketer.
First, he said that he is a very good human being and has a great cricketing brain. He further gave an insight as to how he thinks about the game as well.
"He's a very well put together human. A great cricketing brain and cares about his teammates. He's very sure on how he wants to go about his business, which I think it's a really strong leadership quality and quite infectious, so there's no surprises really that he's touted for leadership for some of the Indian sides in the near future" Williamson told ESPNCricinfo.
"He's got some really clear thoughts about how he wants to captain. And you know, that's important. You have some thoughts and you do it with conviction and you learn and you try and get better - and he's got all of that. He's got that capability, and you see it in the way he plays, the way you can adjust from format to format, from Test cricket to T20 cricket. He's done it all at the highest level. So yeah, I think he's a special player and going to be a fine leader as well" he further added.

The former Kiwi skipper further said that his teammates at Gujarat Titans listen to Shubman Gill whenever he speaks about the game and shares his thoughts.
"He's clear, concise and to the point, so when it was time to speak, he would stand up, and when he spoke people listened," Williamson added. "And that's a really strong quality to have - to know when to say something, and when not to. There's messages within both those sort of situations" Williamson further said on Gill.
Speaking about Gujarat Titans, they have already won the IPL title in their very first season in 2023 under Hardik Pandya. In Shubman Gill now, they have invested in a player who is a potential captain for Team India in international cricket. He is likely to lead the franchise for the next few year and bring a lot of success to the team.
