Sri Lanka Masters, led by Kumar Sangakkara, did not start the tournament on a bright note as they had lost to India Masters in a humdinger. While the match was as close as it could get, India held their nerves and won by four runs.

In the following fixture, Sri Lanka made a comeback with a win over South Africa Masters. Bowling first, Sri Lanka restricted South Africa to 180/6 with Chaturanga de Silva and Isuru Udana bagging two scalps each. They coasted along in the run-chase as Asela Gunaratne and Chinthaka Jayasinge’s unbeaten fifties got them over the line in just 17.2 overs.

Having played just one match so far, Australia Masters cannot be counted out yet despite the loss. Their batting unit, comprising the likes of Shane Watson, who hammered a century vs India, Ben Dunk and Ben Cutting, is very explosive. Although they scored 216 runs against the West Indies, their bowling unit failed to defend it, resulting in a seven-wicket defeat.
