New Zealand opener Rachin Ravindra scored his second ton in this ICC Champions Trophy and his fifth ODI ton overall in the second semi-final against South Africa in Lahore on Wednesday.
His (108 off 101 balls) along with Kane Williamson's (102 off 94) balls powered the Kiwis to a mammoth first innings total of 362/5 in 50 overs. They added a stand of 164 runs for the second wicket and did not allow the Proteas bowlers to have any impact in the middle-overs. In the final overs Glenn Phillips and Michael Bracewell played their part in taking the team to a huge total.
Meanwhile, Ravindra who scored 108 in the semi-final has now scored his fifth ODI century all of which came in ICC events. The 25-year-old is only the fifth cricketer in the world after Pakistan’s Saeed Anwar, India’s Sourav Ganguly, Sri Lanka’s Upul Tharanga, and India’s Shikhar Dhawan to score multiple centuries in one edition of the ODI World Cup and Champions Trophy.
