Rohit Sharma was backed up by his India teammate and now his Ranji captain in Ajinkya Rahane. The Indian skipper had to face some harsh criticism due to his poor form since the series against Australia.
He scored just 31 runs in five innings. Add to that India lost the series and the pressure on Rohit Sharma has increased. He is among the many Indian batters to make a comeback to domestic cricket.
However, did not have a great return either as he was dismissed for just three in the first innings against Jammu & Kashmir. Mumbai was bowled out for a paltry total of 120.

This happened after Umar Nazir Mir, the Jammu & Kashmir pacer picked up four wickets including Rohit, Rahane and Shivam Dube. Meanwhile, Mumbai skipper Ajinkya Rahane spoke at the pre-match press conference before the game against Jammu. He said that Rohit knows his game and does not need to be told anything.
"See, Rohit is Rohit. We all know that. Aapko bhi pata hai Rohit ka character (You also know Rohit's character). I am really happy to have both of them back in the Mumbai dressing room. Rohit has always been relaxed. Even playing at the international level, his character is similar. His attitude is pretty much relaxed. He knows his game really well so, no one has to tell him what he needs to do. " Rahane told the media during Mumbai's training session in Mumbai on January 22.
Rohit Sharma To Play Just One Ranji Trophy Game
Rahane further praised Rohit's hunger to get back to domestic cricket and score runs. He will play only one Ranji Trophy game before he goes back to leading India against England in the ODI series. Rahane thus values Rohit's inputs on the field.
"What is important is (that) he is hungry, he is determined to do well. I am sure once he gets in, he will get a big one. He batted really well yesterday (in) a couple of sessions so it's part and parcel of a player's career. I am really confident about Rohit. I think he's only playing this game; not sure about the next game. His inputs in the next four days will be really important," Rahane said.
Meanwhile, talks about Rohit's travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 captains meet has been denied by BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia. He said that BCCI has not had any conversation regarding the same.
