IRA Jadhav Triple Century

In a remarkable display of talent, 14-year-old Mumbai opener Ira Jadhav has etched her name in history as the first Indian to score a triple century in Under-19 cricket. Jadhav accomplished this incredible feat during the U19 Women’s One Day Trophy, held on Sunday in Alur, Bengaluru, where she scored an unbeaten 346 runs against Meghalaya. This performance not only made her the first Indian to reach such a milestone but also set a new record for the highest score in Youth List A matches by an Indian.

Jadhav’s innings was nothing short of spectacular. She faced just 157 balls, accumulating 346 runs with the help of 42 boundaries and 16 sixes. Her aggressive yet composed approach to batting was on full display as she dominated the Meghalaya bowlers, helping Mumbai post a massive total. The match also saw a crushing defeat for Meghalaya, as they were bowled out for a paltry 19 runs, with six players getting out for ducks. Mumbai's victory was monumental, registering a massive 544-run win.

The 14-year-old's remarkable achievement places her in the spotlight, especially considering her young age and her association with Sharadashram Vidyamandir, the prestigious school that produced cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Vinod Kambli, and Ajit Agarkar.

While Jadhav's record is a significant milestone in Indian cricket, it is worth noting that the world record for the highest score in Youth List A matches still belongs to South Africa’s Lizelle Lee, who scored 427 runs in a domestic match back in 2010.

Despite her outstanding performance, Jadhav went unsold in the previous Women's Premier League auction. However, her talents have not gone unnoticed, and she has now been named among the standbys for India’s U19 T20 World Cup squad, which will compete in Malaysia. Her journey is one to watch as she continues to rise through the ranks of Indian women’s cricket.
