Zimbabwe have posted 299/5 in their 50 overs in the first ODI against Ireland in Harare on Friday. They got to that score courtesy of a fabulous century from opener Brian Bennett. He scored 169 off 163 deliveries and anchored the innings. He hit 20 fours and three sixes in his innings.
Bennett opened the innings with Ben Curran who scored 28 off 44 balls. He added an 95-run stand with the opener in 19 overs to lay the solid platform for the massive score in the end.
After Curran was dismissed, Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine scored 66 off 61 deliveries. He added a 136-run stand with the opener to take the Zimbabwe innings forward. The skipper was dismissed with the same score on 231 in the 41st over. There were hardly any contributions from the middle and the lower-order. Sikandar Raza was dismissed for just 8. The lower-order batters also scored in single digits.
