Pakistan Ready To Host Champions Trophy - PCB Chief Mohsin Naqvi

The Pakistan Cricket Board have made all the necessary attempts to stage the tournament in Pakistan itself. PCB Chief Mohsin Khan has worked hard to get everything in order ahead of the start of the tournament.

He also came out with a statement where he proudly spoke about the country now being ready to host an ICC event for the first time in 29 years.

"As with any ICC event, the host nation must submit a comprehensive security plan for review by ICC security experts and representatives from participating countries. Our security plan was presented to the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board in October 2024 and received unanimous approval. This plan ensures that all necessary protocols are in place to provide a safe and seamless experience for teams, officials, and spectators alike. Pakistan is fully prepared to host the world's best cricketers, officials, foreign spectators and commercial partners" Naqvi said to Cricbuzz.

Among the top teams, only Bangladesh and England are yet to win this tournament. India and Australia are the only two teams to have won the title twice. South Africa, West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka have won the title once. Sri Lanka were the joint-winners alongside India in the 2002 edition.

This time around, they missed out on qualification after fairing poorly in the ODI World Cup 2023. Instead of them, Afghanistan qualified for the Champions Trophy for the very first time. The Afghans finished sixth on the points table and the selection criteria for this Champions Trophy were the top 8 teams. Hence Sri Lanka and West Indies missed out on qualification.
