Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is all set to travel to Pakistan ahead of the start of the tournament. The tournament will begin from November 19 in Pakistan and Rohit will travel across the border to attend the opening ceremony and the captain's press conference.

India begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20. The tournament will be played in the hybrid model with India playing all their matches in Dubai.

Despite the best efforts of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) the BCCI in alignment with the Indian government said that they will not send their players to Pakistan due to security concerns. However, Rohit might well travel to the country for a few formalities.

As per a recent report by IANS, the PCB is planning a grand opening ceremony for the Champions Trophy. The event could be held on February 16 or 17. All the captains of the respective teams will be presiding over a press conference. Hence Rohit is also expected to be a part of the event.

“Indian Team captain will visit Pakistan to attend the opening ceremony of the Champions Trophy as PCB plans a grand event, marking the return of a mega international cricket event to Pakistan after 29 years," a source close to the proceedings informed IANS.

India-Pakistan To Play At Neutral Venues In ICC Events

India and Pakistan will from now on play at neutral venues at ICC events under the hybrid model introduced for the 2024-2027 cycle. India will not travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, nor will Pakistan visit India for the 2026 T20 World Cup. As part of the arrangement, Pakistan will host the 2028 Women’s T20 World Cup, also in a hybrid format.

The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash will be played in Dubai on February 23, on Sunday. The Men in Green defeated their Indian counterparts in the final of the 2017 Champions Trophy and win the title.

Meanwhile, latest reports have said that the stadiums are not ready yet for the tournament. The matches will be played across Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi along with Dubai in the UAE.
