Nitish Kumar Reddy recalls his century at the MCG and the significant role Virat Kohli played in it. During his remarkable innings, Reddy used a pair of Virat Kohli's shoes to score 114 runs off 189 balls. Although his century helped India reduce the deficit, the team ultimately lost the match by 184 runs and the series 3-1, with Australia reclaiming the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024-25.

In a recent interview with Puma, Reddy shared that Kohli was looking for someone to gift his shoes to. He initially asked Sarfaraz Khan about his shoe size, but when it didn't match, Reddy took a chance. He believed he needed to guess Kohli's size correctly to receive the shoes. Taking a risk, he guessed size 10, and to his surprise, Kohli agreed that it was indeed the right size and handed him the shoes.

“He (Kohli) asked Sarfaraz what his shoe size was, and he said nine or something like that. Then he asked me, and I thought, ‘Oh my God, I have to guess this correctly.’ Even if it wasn't my size, I really wanted those shoes. So, I said, ‘Okay, 10.’ He responded that it was 10, and if I wanted them, I could take them. I immediately said, ‘I want to take them.’ The next match, I wore those shoes and scored a hundred,” Reddy explained.

Additionally, Reddy revealed that he had always wanted to ask Kohli for a bat but had been too nervous to do so. To his surprise, while Kohli was packing his bags, he called Reddy over and offered him one of his bats after checking it. Along with the bat, Reddy also received a signed shoe from Kohli.

He expressed his astonishment at Kohli's generosity and described the moment as one of the most heartfelt experiences of his life.

Nitish Kumar Reddy joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp fully fit, despite rumours suggesting that SRH was looking for a replacement due to an injury. However, those rumours were untrue as Nitish kumar is back in full fitness and will play an important role in SRH's middle order this season.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will begin their season against Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium on March 23rd, at 3:30 PM IST.
