Pakistan batsman Fakhar Zaman was officially ruled out from the Champions Trophy after he picked up an injury in the very first over of their season opener against New Zealand in Karachi.
Pakistan named Imam-Ul-Haq as his replacement for the rest of the tournament. The southpaw looked in discomfort when he walked out to bat at number four in the match against the Kiwis. He scored 24 off 41 deliveries and required medical attention multiple times during his knock.
Fakhar Zaman tripped near the boundary line while he was chasing a cover drive from Kiwi opener Will Young. He fell on the ground and immediately called for medical attention before limping off the field.

Previously, the southpaw took to his official Twitter handle to let his fans know about his unavailability in the rest of the Champions Trophy.
"Representing Pakistan on the biggest stage is an honour and dream of every cricketer in this country. I have been privileged enough to represent Pakistan multiple times with pride. Unfortunately, I’m now out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 but surely Allah is the best planner. Grateful for the opportunity. I will be backing our boys in green from home. This is only just the beginning, the comeback will be stronger than the setback Pakistan Zindabad" he wrote on his official Twitter handle.
The southpaw did not play any ODI matches since the ODI World Cup 2023. The Champions Trophy recall was a major event in the life of his career. He was instrumental in the Men in Green winning the tournament back in 2017. He was added to the squad for this tournament after being dropped from tours to South Africa and Australia, reportedly due to his vocal support for Babar Azam following his Test squad snub.
Having lost to New Zealand in their first game, Pakistan find themselves in a must-win situation against India in Dubai on Sunday. A loss against India will all but put Pakistan out of the tournament.
