Indian all-rounder Shardul Thakur has said that quality players should get more chances to play Test cricket for India. This comes after the all-rounder scored 51 off 57 balls and took Mumbai's innings from 47-7 to 120.
The much-famed Mumbai batting lineup was shattered by Jammu and Kashmir pacer Umar Nazir Mir who wreaked havoc on Friday and dismissed the cream of the Mumbai batting lineup. He dismissed Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ajinkya Rahane in his spell.
His bowling attack impressed one and all and he is now touted as the next big thing in Indian cricket. Meanwhile, Shardul coming into bat at number eight scored crucial 57 runs. He hit five fours and two sixes in his innings.

Others Should Talk About My Quality: Shardul Thakur
The innings reminded everyone of his maiden First-Class ton in the Ranji Trophy semifinal last season, when he smacked a 105-ball 109 with 13 fours and four sixes coming in at No. 9. His knock took Mumbai from  106 for seven to 378 against Tamil Nadu to set up a win by an innings and 70 runs en route to their 43rd title.
"What can I talk about my quality? Others should talk about it. They should see that if someone has quality, he should be given more chances," Thakur told the media.
The Indian all-rounder faced the media after his knock and J&K and said that quality performers should be noticed and given a longer run in Test cricket.
"I like batting in difficult situations. In easy situations, everyone does well, but how you put up the show in adverse situations matters. I see tough situations as a challenge and always think about how to overcome that challenge," he said.
Shardul Thakur went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction but he said that he is over it and that forgetting the past is critical.
"You have to forget whatever has happened in the past; it is not going to change. It is important to be in the present and think about what you can do in the near future," he said.
He further backed Rohit Sharma's comeback to domestic cricket saying that his passion for Mumbai cricket has remained the same.
"He is always passionate about Mumbai cricket. Any Mumbaikar, the way we have seen hardships growing up as teenagers playing maidan cricket, everyone is so passionate about Mumbai cricket that even if they're playing for India, they follow what (the) Mumbai team is doing," he said.
Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 28 off 35 balls in the second innings of the Mumbai vs Jammu & Kashmir match after scoring just three in the first innings.
