The WPL 2025 Eliminator between Mumbai Indians Women and Gujarat Giants is currently on at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Mumbai have posted 213/4 batting first against the Giants. They were sent into bat first after Giants skipper Ashleigh Gardner won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt both scored fifties as they pummelled the Giants bowlers to all parts of the ground. The duo added a stand of over 150 runs for the second wicket as the opposition bowlers had nowhere to hide.
Both Matthews and Brunt played with a sense of freedom after both crossed their fifties. Together they hit over 20 boundaries in the innings as they powered the Mumbai Indians to a match-winning total. MI hit a total of 25 fours and nine sixes in their innings.

Gujarat Giants Rue Missed Chances In Eliminator Clash
Gujarat Giants had a lot of fielding lapses and missed chances. The fielders dropped both the batters who gave them chances after scoring their fifties. The ground fielding was rather ordinary as well. The fielders seemed nervous to field the deliveries. The GG bowlers bowled a bit short which allowed both the batters to play shots of the back foot.
Hayley Matthews especially was comfortable to play from the backfoot which is her strength as a better. She was finally dismissed on 77 off 50 balls after adding a 133-run partnership with Sciver-Brunt. After Mathews was dismissed Harmanpreet Kaur (36 off 11) came in and played a brilliant cameo. She added 39 off 16 balls with Brunt who was dismissed for 77 off 41 balls.

The Giants now will need to chase a record total to win the Eliminator against Mumbai Indias. GG have never beaten MI in the WPL and now have an uphill task as they seek their first win against them in this knockout clash/ Gujarat Giants need 214 to win.
