The Karnataka state cabinet is set to give a green light for the Mysuru International Cricket Stadium. Reports mention that the construction work for the stadium might begin soon with full support and backing from the Karnataka state government.

Notably, Karnataka already has an iconic cricket stadium in Bengaluru - M. Chinnaswamy Stadium—which has hosted some epic international matches and some nail-biting T20 games in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, reports say that the former MP Pratap Simha has put forth a request to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to approve the long-standing project through a social media post.

As per Simha, the land on which the stadium is supposed to be built is to be government kharab land, which has been approved for the construction of the stadium. As of now, it won't be wrong to say that Mysuru people will get a brand-new cricket stadium.

“Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, you have convened the Cabinet meeting in Chamarajanagar, once part of the undivided Mysuru district. A fully equipped stadium was first planned at Sathagalli. However, due to a lake within that land, legal issues under the National Green Tribunal rules could arise. As an alternative, 26.31 acres near Huyilalu have been identified, and all required procedures are complete. Please grant Cabinet approval,” Simha posted on social media.

The former MP further stated that he has thoroughly examined the land ownership, and there are no legal hassles. Simha said that the KSCA is expected to invest a massive INR 100 crore.

“When I was the MP, I relentlessly pursued the stadium issue. Today, my efforts are bearing fruit. There are no legal entanglements or ownership disputes with this parcel of land. The KSCA is expected to invest over ₹100 crore to bring the stadium to life — potentially positioning Mysuru as a key destination for international and domestic cricket,” Simha added.

Sources close to the development have confirmed that the Mysuru Cricket Stadium proposal is listed on the Cabinet agenda. The Mysuru Regional Commissioner has also submitted a formal letter to the principal secretary of the Revenue Department, seeking approval of the transfer of 26.31 acres of government land—Survey Numbers 312 and 313 — for the International Cricket Stadium Project.
