Dube and Surya

The semi-final Ranji Trophy match between Vidarbha and Mumbai is being contested today, with Vidarbha leading after some nail-biting moments on Day 2. Shivam Dube was the best bowler from Mumbai, taking five wickets for 49 runs in the first innings.

But his batting was disappointing as well since he got out on a two-ball duck. At the time of his getting out, Mumbai was at 113 for 4, losing Surya Kumar Yadav for a duck as well, which had put them in trouble at 113 for 5.

Dube was introduced as the final bowler of Mumbai when Ajinkya Rahane had no other options left. He straight away broke a key partnership, giving Mumbai a badly needed spurt of energy. Dube's wicket-taking ability did not stop there as he got rid of Karun Nair and then made sure he cleaned up the tail, claiming the last five wickets of Vidarbha for a paltry 75 runs.

Shivam Dube's Fifer

Vidarbha put up a good first innings total of 383, and while Mumbai did restrict them to under 400, their batting was not up to the same standard. The middle order collapsed with top batsmen, including Prithvi Raj and Shivam Dube, getting out on ducks, which reduced Mumbai's score from 113 for 3 to 188 for 7 at the end of Day 2. They are still 195 runs short, with Akash Anand contributing big time and saving his wicket while others lost theirs.

Day 3 will be thrilling, as Vidarbha is in the driver's seat. If they can take three wickets early in the morning session, they could potentially spring a surprise against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy semi-final.
