Shubman Gill yet again showed the world his class by taking India over the line by six wickets against Bangladesh in the ongoing Champions Trophy game in Dubai. His maiden CT Hundred (101), and eight overall came off 125 balls and also was a knock full of maturity and temperament.  Chasing 229 for the win, the World's number one ODI batter played the anchor role to perfection on a sluggish Dubai wicket. He mixed caution with aggression and played sensibly when India lost Rohit Sharma (41) in the power play.
While Gill started his innings briskly alongside Rohit Sharma, the former curbed his instincts once the skipper departed. Gill played risk-free cricket and showed the right template for chasing targets in Dubai.
After India's skipper's wicket, Bangladesh attacked the Men in Blue in the middle overs by bringing in spinners Rishad Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz. The former was exceptional of the two, as he picked up with wickets of Kohli (22), and Axar Patel (8). While Bangladesh thought they had an opening, KL Rahul joined Gill and shut the door on the Tigers of making a comeback into the contest.

One of the other things Gill managed to show in his unbeaten hundred was his intent to bide time. The 25-year-old was ready to play dot balls but also managed to keep rotating the strike alongside Rahul. Not for once did India's asking attack go beyond 6 runs per over.
KL Rahul returns to form as India is off to a winning start in CT
There were question marks around Rahul being the first-choice wicketkeeper batter ahead of Rishabh Pant in the Indian team. Worst, he was also coming off a poor ODI series against England preceding the CT. However, he shut his critics by playing a mature knock at a crucial stage of India's innings. He joined Gill when India needed more than 70 runs to chase on a two-paced Dubai wicket. The wicketkeeper batter batted well for his unbeaten (41) and enabled India an easy victory in the end.
Player of the Match: Shubman Gill on his first ton in the ICC event
He says it is one of his most satisfying innings. His first century in ICC events. When he and Rohit went out there, just cutting the ball wasn't easy because the ablls outside off stump weren't coming onto the bat. So he tried using his feet against the fast bowlers and go over the circle. Then when the spinners came on, he and Kohli spoke of how it wasn't easy to hit singles on the front foot. So they concentrated on playing back. At one point there was pressure on us and the message came from the dressing room that one batter had to bat through to the end. The first six gave me a lot of confidence, the second one got me closer to a hundred, so both were satisfying.
