The second ODI between New Zealand women and Sri Lanka women was a fairly one-sided contest. The White Ferns in the end defended their total of 245 and won the match by 78 runs. Sri Lanka, chasing 246 to win were bowled out for 167.
The two teams headed into this game after the first ODI was rained out. New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first. All-rounder Maddy Green scored 100 off 109 deliveries to take the total of the White Ferns to 245/7 in their 20 overs.
Three out of the top four batters scored in single digits. Opener Georgia Plimmer scored 28 off 54 balls and the New Zealand women's team were 59/4 inside the first 18 overs.

Sri Lanka Fail To Hold Nerve In Run Chase
The resistance then came from the lower-order with Green scoring a hundred. Isabelle Gaze (19 off 33), Jess Kerr (38 off 44) and wicketkeeper-batter Polly Inglis (34 off 21 balls) took them to a decent total in the end.
Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu took two for 42 with the ball. Achini Kulasuriya, the pacer took 1 /46. Left-arm spinner Inoshi Priyadharshani took one for 43. Off-spinner Kavisha Dilhari took one for 43.
Sri Lanka women chasing 246 to win kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. Chamari Athapaththu, the skipper scored 11 off 16 balls. She was the biggest hope for the visitors and her dismissal was a huge blow for the Lankan women's team. Harshitha Samarawickrama scored 59 off 77 balls but ran out of partners from the other end.
White Ferns pacer Hannah Rowe picked up 4/31 to dismantle the Sri Lankan batters in the chase. Left-arm pacer Bree Illing picked up 2/45. Leg spinner Eden Carson picked up two for 30 with the ball to bowl out the Lankans for just 167 in the chase.
It was a thumping victory in the end with Maddy Green winning the Man Of The Match award for her stunning hundred in the game.
