Sanju Samson to get clearance for Wicket Keeping

Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson arrived in Bengaluru this morning (31/03/2025) to seek clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) for wicketkeeping duties.

Sanju Samson injured his index finger during the England tour of India and underwent minor surgery. This injury caused him to miss the remainder of the England series, and he was not shortlisted for the Champions Trophy 2025.

After the injury, he was partially cleared to bat, allowing him to play as an impact player for Rajasthan Royals in the first three matches, with Riyan Parag captaining the team in his absence.

Reports indicate that his injury has fully healed, prompting his trip to Bengaluru for official clearance from COE managers.

"He will seek clearance for the remaining games and is expected to return as skipper for RR's next match, which is nearly a week away," said a source.

Sanju Samson had a decent start to the season, scoring one fifty in three matches, with a highest score of 66 runs off 34 balls against SRH. Dhuruv Jurel has been keeping wickets, with Sanju playing as a full batter. If Samson receives clearance from the COE, he will resume wicketkeeping duties and lead the Rajasthan Royals for the rest of the season.

The Rajasthan Royals had a shaky start with two consecutive defeats but managed to secure their first win by defeating the Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati by six runs. With Sanju Samson's imminent return to full fitness, he will be eager to maintain the winning momentum as RR prepares to face PBKS next in Chandigarh.
