Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lost their in-form opener Rachin Ravindra early while chasing 182 runs in the 11th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Jofra Archer, RR's pace spearhead, opened the bowling with a sensational wicket-maiden, dismissing Rachin for a duck in the very first over. The ball swung away consistently, troubling the left-hander and resulting in a faint edge to the keeper Dhruv Jurel, giving RR an early breakthrough.
Archer looked off-colour in RR’s first two matches of the season but breathed fire tonight. The English pacer gave away just 13 runs in his first three overs and took a wicket.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rahul Tripathi Cut Loose
CSK, however, responded with resilience as Rahul Tripathi and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad steadied the ship after the initial blow. CSK scored just five runs in the first three overs but the momentum shifted after Tripathi took on Tushar Deshpande, smashing him for two back-to-back boundaries.
Tripathi then counterattacked against dangerous-looking Archer and tonked him for a six and four to get the CSK innings going.
Gaikwad, who got hit on his elbow and was in discomfort, hammered three fours in Sandeep Sharma’s over as CSK ended the powerplay at 42/1.
