Rajasthan Royals (RR) stand-in-captain Riyan Parag has been fined INR 12 lakh rupees for maintaining a slow rate against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). In a close encounter in Guwahati, RR came on top by just six runs. Parag, who chipped in with a useful cameo of 37 runs, got to his first-ever IPL victory as captain after losing two games on the bounce. However, it was observed by the umpires that Parag was well behind the over rate despite all the time allowances and drinks breaks excluded.
"As this was his team's first offense of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offenses, Parag was fined INR 12 lakhs," IPL said in a release.
For the unversed, Parag came under scrutiny after RR lost two games against SRH and KKR. To makes things worse, the 23-year-old was also failed to make telling contributions with bat in hand in those two losses. However, against CSK, Parag enabled RR got to a challenging score of 182, and later showed street smartness with in his captaincy by keeping CSK batters to just 176 for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs.

The RR's skipper captaincy was especially super in the death overs when he used Tushar Deshpande and Sandeep Sharma smartly.

RR aim to keep the winning momentum as regular Sanju Samson is expected to lead the side against PBKS
After the game against CSK, RR will have a good six days rest, before they next play PBKS on Saturday, April 05. Regular skipper Sanju Samson is likely to lead the side after playing RR's first three games as an impact sub.
