MS Dhoni hogged the limelight in Lucknow as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by five wickets on Monday, April 14, to get back to winning ways.
Chennai Super Kings are back to winning ways after losing five games on the trot. MSD made the play in Lucknow, a pitch that was very much Chepaul-like.
First, he used his bowlers well and restricted LSG to 166 runs for seven wickets in their 20 overs. LSG got to that score courtesy of Rishabh Pant's first fifty in IPL 2025. In the process, he added crucial stands with Mitchell Marsh, Ayush Badoni, and Abdul Samad.

The LSG spinners did control the game in the second innings. They kept chipping away with the wickets and had CSK struggling at one point at 111 runs for five wickets in the 16th over. CSK needed 56 runs off the last five overs when MS Dhoni walked out to bat. Shivam Dube was also struggling to time the ball before Dhoni came to the wicket.
With the pressure on him to prove himself, MS Dhoni scored 26 runs off just 11 balls at a strike rate of almost 240. Shivam Dube (43 runs off 37 balls) also found his groove as CSK won the match in the final over. Dube hit the winning runs in the third delivery off the final over.
