Punjab Kings (PBKS) are taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Mullanpur on Tuesday, April 15. PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer won the toss opted to bat first.
Iyer is up against his former franchise as luck went his way at the coin toss. Mullanpur is a ground where teams batting first have won more games than the team chasing.
Priyansh Arya (22 runs off 12 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (18 off 9 balls) gave the Kings a rollicking start in the first three overs. The pair added 39 runs in the first three overs. However, the fourth over from Harshit Rana turned the game around for KKR.

Josh Inglish, who was included in the XI for his prowess against spinners, was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy for just two runs off six balls. PBKS started strongly in the first three overs but the KKR bowlers pulled back the scoring in the final three overs inside the powerplay. Prabhsimran Singh (30 runs off 15 balls) played with an attacking intent but fell in the final ball of the powerplay as Ramandeep Singh caught him at point. The Kings finished with 54/4 after the powerplay ended. PBKS lost four wickets for just 21 runs in the last three overs of the powerplay.
Sunil Narine was brought in the seventh over just outside the powerplay by skipper Ajinkya Rahane. He went for just four runs in his first over. After Inglis's dismissal, Glenn Maxwell (7 runs off 9 balls) and Nehal Wadhera (10 runs off 9 balls) tried to stitch a partnership. In the ninth over, after hitting Anrich Nortje for two back to back fours in his second over, the southpaw was dismissed as he too was caught at square leg much like Priyansh Arya.
Thus the first 10 overs in this PBKS vs KKR contest was one of two halves. Punjab dominated the first three overs and Kolkata pulled things back beautifully in the next seven overs taking wickets at regular intervals. The Kings were forced to take a batting Impact Sub in Suryansh Shedge as they struggled after the powerplay and ended with 80/6 after the first 10 overs as they even lost Glenn Maxwell.
