Gujarat Titans (GT) wicketkeeper batter Jos Buttler opened up about his rapport and relationship with Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper Sanju Samson ahead of the RR vs GT clash on Monday, April 28, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. Buttler, who played with RR for seven years, also shared his smooth transition from Jaipur to Ahmedabad.
From the 2018 to 2024 IPL seasons, Buttler proudly wore the pink jersey and plundered runs for fun. However, ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, RR let go of the right-hand batter. Buttler was snapped up for a whopping 15.75 crore by GT. So far, the signing has proven to be a masterstroke, as the Englishman has amassed 356 runs in eight games at an average of 71.20 and a strike rate of over 150.
As Jos Buttler gears up to face RR again today, he opened up about his equation with Samson on JioHotsar's special series, "I have had a great relationship with Sanju over the years, learning a lot from him and watching how he goes about things. While he moves on and I'm now with a new franchise, I always look back fondly at he friendships and memories we built, they will stand the test of time."

Jos Buttler on playing for Gujarat Titans & new environment
The 34-year-old also stated his feelings about his journey from the Royals to the Titans. The wicketkeeper-batter admitted that the new environment around him is quite different, but he is optimistic and excited about the challenges that lie ahead.
"Playing for GT feels different after spending so many years with RR and creating great memories. But I am excited about something new it keeps things fresh and interesting. The setup here is very relaxed and chilled. I have enjoyed getting to know Ashish Nehra, who runs a fun, positive environment, and Shubman Gill, who is a very impressive, calm young captain," he added.

The last time GT faced RR in the IPL 2025 season, Buttler scored a valuable 25-ball 36 runs as he helped GT post a 200-plus-run total.
