Delhi Capitals (DC) kick off the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with high expectations, aiming to capture their first-ever title.
Led by Axar Patel, who was announced as the captain recently, and bolstered by the addition of KL Rahul, the team brings a mix of experience and youth to the field. Their campaign starts on March 24 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Visakhapatnam.

Batting Analysis
Top Order
The top-order of Delhi Capitals include Fraser-McGurk, Faf and Porel. This looks promising and robust. Fraser-McGurk brings explosive potential, Faf offers experience and consistency, and Porel adds to the steadiness, making this a well-rounded unit capable of setting strong foundations or chasing big totals effectively.
Middle Order
The middle-order, featuring Rahul, Stubbs, Axar and Ashutosh Sharma, appears a bit dicey. Rahul, primarily a top-order batter, is yet to prove himself in the middle-order in the IPL, which raises questions about his adaptability lower down. Stubbs performed well last season and is a great middle-order prospect, but Ashutosh, with just one season of experience, adds an element of unpredictability.

Lower Order

Pace Attack
The pacers of the Capitals - Starc, Mukesh and Natarajan - are among the bests. They are DC's standout strength. Starc’s lethal new-ball spells paired with Natarajan and Mukesh’s death-over precision form a formidable trio capable of dismantling opposition line-ups across all phases of the game. Delhi also have decent fast-bowling back-ups in Mohit Sharma, Dushmatha Chameera and Darshan Nalkande.
Spin Attack
The spin unit of DC, led by Kuldeep and Axar, is equally impressive, offering variety and control. Kuldeep’s wrist-spin complements Axar’s left-arm accuracy, making them a potent duo. However, they lack quality back-ups, which could be a concern if either falters or in case of injuries, leaving the team vulnerable in this department.
