Delhi Capitals fast bowler Mukesh Kumar twisted his ankle while trying to stop a boundary hit by Nicholas Pooran in the 15th over, which caused him to leave the field in excruciating pain.
This season, Mukesh Kumar had an expensive start, holding the unwanted record of the worst economy rate among bowlers who have bowled a minimum of 300 balls in the Indian Premier League, with an economy of 10.45. He conceded 14 runs in his first over, as Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh took him on with a few boundaries. However, he later returned to the attack at the request of Axar Patel and provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous Mitchell Marsh, breaking an 87-run partnership with Pooran.

As the innings progressed, Mukesh sustained the injury during the 15th over while fielding at square leg. He overran a pull shot by Nicholas Pooran on the third ball of the over. Although he successfully stopped the ball, he twisted his left ankle in the process.
In visible pain, support staff arrived to check on him, and after some time, he left the field with their assistance as they escorted him to the dressing room. Mukesh Kumar did not return to the pitch, and the severity of the injury appeared to be significant.
Mohit Sharma and Mitchell Starc bowled the remaining overs as Lucknow Super Giants set a target of 210 runs on the board. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals found themselves struggling at 66/5 at the end of 7 overs, under pressure from the impressive bowling of Shardul Thakur and the spin attack. Stay tuned for more updates.
