India Masters suffered their first defeat of the IML T20 2025 as they lost to the Australia Masters by 95 runs. They were chasing 270 to win the match and in the end, fell well short of the target. They were bowled out for 174 and in the process, lost their first game of this campaign.
India Masters had an uphill task to chase 270. They kept on losing wickets at regular with intervals. Skipper Sachin Tendulkar (64 off 33 balls) held fort at one end but aw his partner lose their wickets in quest of getting the runs.
As many as six batters were dismissed for single-digit scores. Apart from Tendulkar's 64, Naman Ojha (19 off 11), Irfan Pathan (11 off 13), Yusuf Pathan (25 off 15 ) and Pawan Negi (14 off 10) were the other four batters to score in single digits.

Sachin Tendulkar's Lone Hand Not Enough Against Australia Masters
The required run-rate from the very start in the chase was over 14 and thus it was always going to be an impossible task for the India Masters. In the end, they fell well short of the target.
For Australia Masters, left-arm spinner Xavier Doherty picked up 5/25 to dismantle the Indian batters in the run-chase. The big wicket of Sachin Tendulkar was also picked by him in the 11th over of the Indian innings.
Ben Hilfenhaus, Ben Laughlin, Dan Christian and Nathan Reardon picked up a wicket each. The left-arm spinner got his wickets as all Indian batters looked to go after him in the chase. The Indian team finally were bowled out for 174 as they lost the match by 95 runs. Earlier in the match, unbeaten centuries from Ben Dunk and Shane Watson helped Australia Masters post a mammoth 269/1 batting first.
India Masters next take on the West Indies Masters in their final league game on March 8. The Australia Masters play against the England Masters in their final league game. Despite the loss, India are still topping the points table of the IMLT20 2025.
