Harry Brook-Varun Chakravarthy 2nd T20I

Harry Brook who is among the upcoming talents in English cricket made a bizarre claim ahead of the India vs England 2nd T20I in Chennai on Saturday. He was dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy in the first game in Kolkata.

Brook scored 17 off 14 balls and England's overall batting performance was below par as well. They will be tested more by spin in the second T20I which will be played at the Chepauk.

Speaking after the first T20I loss, Harry Brook claimed that he failed to ready Varun's mystery spin due to the heavy smog which was present in Kolkata. He said that in between the smog sighting the ball was an issue hoping for better weather conditions in the second T20I in Chennai.

"Chakaravarthy is an exceptionally good bowler. But with the smog the other night, it was a lot harder to pick. Hopefully the air is a bit clearer here and we can see the ball a bit easier. Facing spin in T20 cricket is probably the hardest thing in the game, especially because I always get out trying to absolutely smack it," Brook told the Daily Telegraph.

The England batter further spoke about his own method of playing spin. He also spoke about referring back to his IPL innings against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.

"Maybe I've got to rein in a little bit, but we'll see. I think I do have a method. It's just trying to do it consistently and more often. I come in the middle order, so the first few balls I face are usually off-spin. "I was going to watch it on the way in (to Friday's practice session) but my phone wouldn't work, so I'll have a look a little bit later," he added.

Meanwhile, England have already named their playing XI for the second T20I. Instead of strengthening their spin attack, they have added another pacer in Brydon Carse for the Chepauk game. England's key to victory at the Chepauk lies on how their batters tackle the Indian spinners.
