Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has been ruled out of the remainder of the tri-series 2025 involving South Africa and New Zealand. Rauf who got injured during the opening clash against New Zealand at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, has been rested for the remainder of the series as a precautionary measure ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The third ODI between Pakistan and South Africa will be played today in Karachi. The winners plays the final against New Zealand on February 14.
Uncapped pacer Akif Javed has been named as his replacement. He recently represented Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League 2024-25 where he took 20 wickets from 11 games at an average of 14.30 including a four-fer. His economy rate was impressive at 6.89 runs per over.
Besides that he has also take 33 wickets from 30 List-A matches at an average of 36 including a fifer. Rauf's absence from the remainder of the tournament will give the Pakistan team and the selectors some tough time.

Haris Rauf Rested Ahead Of Champions Trophy 2025
Players from several teams have been ruled out of the Champions Trophy due to injury concerns. Jasprit Bumrah from India and Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood from Australia are a few big names who will miss the tournament due to injury concerns. Mitchell Starc has also pulled out of the tournament at the last minute.
A recent PCB release says that Haris Rauf is rested from the remainder of the tri-series and should be fit for the Champions Trophy. Meanwhile, Akif will not feature for the Men in Green as their probable 12 for the match has already been announced. Mohammad Hasain has replaced Rauf in the side. Akif will get an opportunity to play in the final if Pakistan beats South Africa in the virtual semi-final contest.
"The replacement is only for the tri-nation ODI series, as Haris Rauf is expected to be fully fit and available for selection for the ICC Champions Trophy," the PCB said in a release.
