BCCI reward 58 Crores for CT win

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday (March 20, 2025) announced a cash reward of a whopping ₹58 crore for the Rohit Sharma & Co. that won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 earlier this month in Dubai. India defeated New Zealand by six wickets and won the CT trophy for the third time.

Not only the players of the CT squad, but also the coaching staff will be rewarded for their efforts in making India an unstoppable force in the global tournament. However, the board did not announce the break up of the 58 Crore among the players and coaching staff in it's official statement.

"Winning back-to-back ICC titles is special and this reward recognizes Team India's dedication and excellence on the global stage," said BCCI president Roger Binny in a release.

For the unversed, the BCCI also gave a huge reward when team India won the T20 World Cup in 2024. At that time, Rahul Dravid was the coach, and he did a heartwarming gesture of reducing his bonus money, and told the BCCI about giving the same 2.5 Crore as they did to assistant coaches Paras Mhambrey, T Dilip, and Vikram Rathoure.

“Rahul wanted the same bonus money (Rs. 2.5 crore) as the rest of his support staff (bowling coach Paras Mhambrey, fielding coach T Dilip and batting coach Vikram Rathore). We respect his sentiments,” a BCCI source said, as per the report.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia lavishes praise on Team India

Mr. Devajit Saikia, Honorary Secretary, BCCI, said that the BCCI was extremely happy and proud to give away this reward for players and the coaching staff as they deserve and did put in hard yards.

“Their dominance in world cricket is a result of years of hard work and strategic execution. This victory has justified India’s top ranking in white-ball cricket, and we are sure the team will continue to excel in the years to come,” he said.

Mr. Rajeev Shukla, Vice-President, BCCI, said the cash reward was a fitting tribute to the outstanding performances delivered by Rohit Sharma & Co throughout the CT event.

“The players exhibited remarkable composure under pressure, and their success is an inspiration to aspiring cricketers across the country. The team has once again proved that Indian cricket is built on a strong foundation of skill, mental toughness, and a winning mentality,” he said.
