Australia all-rounder Cameron Green is optimistic and hoping to use an upcoming County stint in England to help get a recall to the side ahead of their ICC World Test Championship Final against South Africa from June 11 to 15 at the Lord's Stadium in England. Green has not played any form of competitive cricket since September last year after back surgery to fix an ongoing back issue.
The all-rounder spoke to reporters in Perth on Monday and has has given a green signal by medical team to feature as only a batter during an upcoming five-match stint with English County side Gloucestershire. In fact, Green could have also played for his local state Western Australia in the recent Sheffield Shield final as pure batter if they had qualified in the finals.

“I’m going really well. I would have been ready for a Shield final if that happened ... I was raring to go for that, but it wasn’t meant to be,” Green said.
“I’m doing pretty well and I’m all fit and healthy.”
Crucial test awaits Cameron Green as he works his way back into Australia XI ahead of the WTC Final
Green is expected to reach England next week to play with Gloucestershire and his first match with the side is likely to come against Kent on Friday, April 18. The County encounter will be crucial for the 25-year-old as he aims to work his way back into Australia XI for the all-important WTC Final. The all-rounder is also happy to bat anywhere from one to six if being picked in the team for the clash against South Africa.
“We’ve obviously got an ultra-successful top five, six, seven, so it’s never easy, but that’s what you want it to be in a Test team,” Green said.

“I think they’ve had another ultra-successful summer and I was so happy watching, but at the same time you want to get back in the team, so we will just wait to see what happens.”
