The WPL battle is raising up with the games coming thick and fast. The Gujarat Giants takes on the Mumbai Indians women in match 5 of WPL 2025 on Tuesday, February 18. The match starts from 7.30 pm IST. This is the penultimate match to be played in Vadodara as the campaign moves to Bengaluru from match number seven.
The Giants lost their campaign opener in a high-scoring run chase to the RCB Women. Despite skipper Ash Gardner's all-round heroics, they lost the match. In the next match against the Delhi Capitals, they pulled their socks up and delivered a match-winning performance.
Mumbai Indians lost their campaign opener against the Delhi Capitals in the last-ball of the match. A few run-outs from the batters while chasing the score did not help their cause. They were a bit loose in the field as well allowing the Capital to run away with the match in the final ball. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur looked in good form with the bat while the rest of the batters looked just a bit jittery. They will need to come together to win their next match against the Giants.

WPL 2025 Match 5: GG vs MI Match Preview
The Giants have played two matches so far and this is their third of the season. Potentially they are playing at their home venue and in front of their home crowd in Vadodara. They lost the high-scoring encounter against the RCB Women. In the next match against the UP Warriorz, Priya Mishra's three-fer set up an easy win for the side. Beth Mooney, Laura Wolvaardt Ashleigh Gardner and Deandra Dottin makes up a strong overseas core for the Giants who can make an eventual difference to the result.
For the MI side, back to back losses can peg them back early in the tournament. A win in this game would be crucial and Harmanpreet Kaur their skipper would be aware of this. The side should first ensure that they play out the complete 20 overs. In their first match against DC, Saika Ishaque was dismissed off the first ball of the final over denying, Nat Sciver Brunt to play the final five matches. Some game awareness coupled with a few good performances from senior players should be good enough for MI to win this game.
