It was not to be the third time lucky for Delhi Capitals (DC) as they succumbed to a third successive loss in the Women's Premier League (WPL) final against Mumbai Indians (MI) losing by eight runs. Chasing a target of 150, DC were never really in the hunt as they kept losing wickets regularly. Amelia Kerr was the star of MI as the leg spinner finished with figures of (2/25). Supporting Kerr was the talismanic all-rounder Nat Sciver-Burnt, who chipped in with three wickets as well.
DC's chase got off to an inauspicious start as they lost both openers Meg Lanning (13), and Shafali Verma (4). Jonnasen (13), and Rodrigues (30) briefly steadied the ship, but the introduction of Kerr after the power play shifted the momentum in MI's favor. The leg spinner struck off her first ball to dismiss Jonassen and later got the vital wicket of Sutherland as well. In the middle overs of DC's innings, they lost five wickets, and that is were the game was lost.

Kapp (40) runs off 26 balls and tried to take the game away from MI by playing some stunning shots, but Sciver-Brunt delivered the knockout punch as she struck twin blows in the 18th over to send Kapp and Pandey for a duck. Overall, MI were clinical with the ball in hand as all their bowlers bowled disciplined lines and lengths.
Sciver-Brunt's dream season enables a second WPL title for MI
It is fair to say that Sciver-Brunt had a fairy tale WPL season. The clutch player finished WPL with 523 runs from 10 games and chipped in with 12 wickets as well. The England all-rounder was simply brilliant to watch in WPL and yet again proved why she is rated as one of the best all-rounders in the game. Along with her contribution, Matthews finished WPL with 18 wickets. Overall, MI had different players to step up in various situations, and that is where they were miles ahead of other teams.
