The BCCI will announce the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy at 12.30 PM. The squad will be announced via a press conference attended by chief selector Ajit Agarkar along with Rohit Sharma.

Rohit Sharma has already been announced as the captain for India in the England ODI series followed by the Champions Trophy. The BCCI has decided to continue with Rohit as the captain as of now in this marquee tournament.

The selectors are likely to closely monitor Rohit Sharma's captaincy in the England ODI series followed by the Champions Trophy. His leadership skills have been in question eversince India lost the Test series against England.

Meanwhile, another cricketer in focus for Champions Trophy selection is Karun Nair. He has had a brilliant campaign in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy scoring 752 runs in seven innings and averaging a staggering 752. Harbhajan Singh, the former Indian spinner has also backed his selection for Champions Trophy.

Nair has notched up scores of 112, 44, 163, 111, 112, 122 and 88, and has been dismissed just once in the Vijay Hazare Trophy so far. Vidarbha batter Karun Nair's stunning form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) has sparked debates of his return to the Indian team. Twitter has backed him to return to the Indian squad.

Karun Nair Last Played For India In 2017

Nair last played for India in 2017 and since then has been banging the door for selection with consistent performances in domestic cricket. He has now scored the most runs scored by an Indian cricketer in a single VHT season. He has scored five centuries alone in this season. His last score was an unbeaten 88 in the semi-final against Maharashtra. Vidarbha will now take on Karnataka in the final on Saturday starting from 1.30 pm.

Even the great Sachin Tendulkar has acknowledged Karun Nair's form in a recent tweet where he praised his batting.
