Arshdeep Singh-Yuzvendra Chahal Apology

Arshdeep Singh who took two wickets in the first T20I against England is now officially India's top-wicket-taker in T20I cricket. He needed five more to get to 100 T20I wickets and he is now sitting on 97 from 61 games.

He made his T20I debut against England in July 2022 and in less than three years time has become India's leading wicket-taker in the format. He has overtaken names like Yuzvendra Chahal and Jasprit Bumrah to top the charts.

The pacer is currently ranked eighth in the ICC T20I rankings for bowlers. In the first T20I, he dismissed Phil Salt in the very first over of the England innings. He then came back to dismiss Ben Duckett in the third over of the innings.

The BCCI after the first T20I shared a video of Arshdeep and Varun talking about the Indian bowling performance in the first T20I. Varun, the mystery spinner took three wickets including the key wicket of Jos Buttler and won his first Man Of The Match award in T20I cricket. The two complimented each other as well.

In the same video, Arshdeep sarcastically apologised to Yuzvendra Chahal as he overtook the leggie to become India's top T20I wicket-taker. That was a light-hearted moment in the video. Chahal, unfortunately, is going through a rough patch and is nowhere close to getting selected in any of the squads.

Chakravarthy who was the Player Of The Match, spoke at the post-match presentation about his bowling performance. He spoke about coming back to Eden Gardens and how he went about his bowling in the game.

"I am used to seeing such pitches in the IPL. I know that it is for the seamers but I know there are certain lengths which is helpful for me. I am trying to keep it away from their arc, it was holding a bit. Every over, bowling in Eden is challenging. To bowl to batsmen like Jos and other guys is definitely challenging. The last over was very tricky and challenging, but by God's grace I was successful" said Chakravarthy.

India take on England in the second T20I in Chennai on January 25. The third T20I will be played on January 28 in Rajkot, followed by the fourth in Pune (January 31) and fifth in Mumbai (February 2). The two teams then play a three-match ODI series between February 6-12
