Karun Nair, the discarded Indian batter is in a rich vein of form at the moment. He has been scoring heavily in domestic cricket. Despite his good form for a long time now, the BCCI has kept him out of the team.
With the senior Indian batters faltering in the Test series against Australia, the BCCI is suddenly interested in Karun Nair and considering bringing him back to international cricket.
He has been in prolific form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. In the six innings that he has played, Karun Nair has slammed 664 runs to go with five centuries and an impressive strike rate of 120.07. He has been dismissed only once in the tournament and is the top run-scorer in the tournament so far. On Thursday in the semi-final of the tournament, Nair scored a match-winning 88 as Vidarbha scored 380/3 in their 50 overs.
Meanwhile, Indian cricket fans are now asking the BCCI to recall him into the Indian ODI side for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The BCCI had earlier seeked an extension in naming their squad for the tournament. India and Pakistan are the only two teams who are yet to name their squads for the multi-team event.

Twitter has very actively backed his selection in India's Champions Trophy squad praising his current form. "Karun Nair is in hot form, if he is not selected for the Champions Trophy then it is sin (sic)," wrote Manoj Tiwari.
"Karun Nair's stats are mind-blowing Averaging 752 is just unreal (sic),"Â wrote RR cricket book.
"Karun Nair What a player.....He's ready to rule for Indian Team once again (sic)," wrote Lucifer.
Nair last played for India in 2017 and since then has been fighting for a place in the side. Recently,Harbhajan Singh has backed his selection slamming the BCCI for ignoring him for so long.
