Rohit Sharma is all set to lead India in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy 2025. He was retained as the captain for the ODI series against England followed by the Champions Trophy.

India begin their Champions Trophy campaign against Bangladesh on February 20. Then they take Pakistan in the high-voltage clash on February 23 and then play the Kiwis in their final league game on March 2. Team India play all their matches in Dubai as part of the hybrid model.

Rohit Sharma as India's Test captain had a forgetful Test series against Australia. He scored just 31 runs in the series and had his worst series with the bat. However, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has backed the hitman to roar back into form in the Champions Trophy.

Suresh Raina feels that the India captain can redeem himself by emulating his 2019 World Cup performance in the upcoming Champions Trophy. Notably, Rohit finished as the highest run scorer of the tournament with 648 runs. He scored five centuries in the ICC event.

“When Rohit wasn’t selected in the 2011 World Cup team, he felt really bad. Hence, he wanted to make it count in the Champions Trophy 2013. The conditions in Dubai will be completely different from the last time we won in England and he knows how to handle that situation. If Rohit ends up playing till 20–25 overs, I won’t be surprised if he repeats his 2019 World Cup heroics,” said Raina on the Star Sports Press Room show.

Rohit Sharma Scored 1255 Runs From 26 Innings In ODIs IN 2023

Rohit's form in ODI cricket has been particularly good since the ODI World Cup 2023. He scored  597 runs from 11 innings at an average of 54.27 with one hundred and three fifties. He gave fast starts to the team which laid the platform for their big scores throughout the tournament.

The Indian ODI skipper finished with  1255 runs from 26 innings at an average of 52.29 and a strike rate of 117.07 with two hundreds and nine fifties in 2023. After a below-par performance in Test cricket, Rohit should be itching to make a brilliant comeback in ODI cricket.
