Nitish Kumar Reddy Out With Side Strain

Reddy was part of the playing XI for the first T20I against England but did not get to bat. He was not used with the ball either. Meanwhile, Dube last featured for India in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He then missed India's home T20I series against Bangladesh with a back injury. Dube returned to cricket with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he scored 151 runs in five innings at a strike rate of 179.76, and took three wickets at an economy of 9.31.

Overall, he has played 33 T20Is for India scoring 448 runs at a strike rate of 134.93 with the bat, and 11 wickets with the ball. He was also part of the Indian T20 World Cup winning squad in the Caribbean last year. Meanwhile, along with Dube, the BCCI has also added Ramandeep Singh to the squad to add more all-round depth to the side.

Along with Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is ruled out of the series, Rinku Singh has picked up a back spasm and will miss the second and the third T20I against England. The injury happened when Singh was fielding in the first T20I in Kolkata. The BCCI confirmed the news are are keeping a close eye on Rinku's progress.

Speaking about the India vs England series, India won the first T20I against England by seven wickets in a rather one-sided contest. The England batters failed to cope up with the Indian spinners. There is much more spin threat awaiting for them in the second T20I in Chennai on Saturday, January 25.

"There was a little bit in the wicket early on, probably didn't expect that. It looked like a really good wicket, they found a little bit of movement and we lost a couple of wickets. But if you come through that phase, it's a pretty good pitch and obviously a fast-scoring ground. Some really good players in there, we wanted to enforce the game that we want to play and we weren't quite capable of doing that today against some good bowlers but we're better for the run-out and we're looking forward to the next one" said Buttler after the first T20I loss.
