Day 2 of the Pakistan vs West Indies Test match in Multan was dominated by a spin chokehold, with 19 wickets falling throughout the day. The batters on both sides were consistently troubled by the turning track, making it a challenging day for the batsmen. Pakistan’s first innings quickly crumbled as the remaining wickets fell early in the first session.

Then, West Indies were put under immense pressure by the spin duo of Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, who wreaked havoc on the West Indies batting line-up. As the day progressed, Pakistan’s second innings also left hanging, with the team losing early wickets and failing to build any solid partnerships. Here's a detailed recap of all the action from an exciting and dramatic Day 2.

Pakistan Lower Middle Order Crumble

Pakistan was building a solid partnership by the end of Day 1, with batters Mohammed Rizwan and Saud Shakeel adding crucial runs. The partnership reached 150 as the score climbed to 187. West Indies finally claimed their first breakthrough of the day when they dismissed the dangerous Saud Shakeel for 84 off 157 balls. This opened the door for Kevin Sinclair, who went on to take the remaining wickets, including that of Mohammed Rizwan, who scored 71 off 133 balls.

As a result, Pakistan was all out for 230, with Kevin Sinclair's impressive five-wicket haul headlining the innings, effectively dismantling Pakistan's lower order. Despite the loss of early wickets, Saud Shakeel and Mohammed Rizwan's excellent counter-attack helped Pakistan reach a competitive total on this pitch. For West Indies, Jayden Seales initiated the attack with the new ball, claiming three wickets to dismantle the top order, while Kevin Sinclair's 5 for 61 played a key role in restricting Pakistan's total.

Noman Ali and Sajid Khan Tear Through West Indies Batting

West Indies' batting performance was brief, as Pakistan's star spinners, Noman Ali and Sajid Khan, effectively dismantled their batting lineup. Starting the spell with the new ball, Sajid Khan performed similarly to Jayden Seales but with spin, taking key wickets for just 22 runs on the board. The pitch was turning sharply, causing significant trouble for the West Indies batters, whose defensive play was inadequate, leading to quick dismissals.

Following Sajid Khan’s impressive spell, Noman Ali took charge, easily claiming the remaining wickets and finishing with a five-wicket haul. West Indies was all out for just 136 runs. The only bright spot for the West Indies was a 10-wicket partnership between Warrican and Jayden Seales, which helped them reach a three-digit score on the scoreboard. Warrican scored 31 off 24 balls, while Seales contributed 22 off 13 balls in a quick-fire, counter-attacking stand. Despite this effort, the total was still low, leaving West Indies with a 94-run deficit against Pakistan in the first innings.

Pakistan came out to bat again with a healthy lead on this surface. Shan Masood and debutant Muhammed Hurraira's steady start helped Pakistan begin their innings well, as they managed to put runs on the board for the first wicket. However, Warrican's quick breakthrough, taking two wickets, brought West Indies back into the game by dismissing Babar Azam for single digits once again. As Day 2 came to an end, Pakistan had posted a score of 109/3, maintaining a healthy lead of 202 runs.
